The Movie Colony Neighborhood organization was recognized as an official neighborhood by the City of Palm Springs in July, 2005 under City Ordinance No.1666.

David Ready, City Manager is responsible for the Office of Neighborhood Involvement, the administrative process for the recognition of neighborhood organizations, boundaries for each neighborhood and a Neighborhood Empowerment Program.	Lee Husfeldt is Director, Public Affairs for the City of Palm Springs and the liaison with the neighborhoods and the City.
